Thanks for all the fish

I’ve decided to step away from WestonWeb for a while.

I know I speak for Roy, too, when I say it’s been wonderful writing for you for the past 12 years. It’s been a big part of our lives.

Nonetheless, I think it’s time to move on. I’ve got a lot on my plate with a job and two growing kids. And, to be honest, my heart hasn’t been in WestonWeb for a while. There have been a lot of nights (mostly in a rush before the newsletter goes out) where I’ve asked myself “Why the hell am I pushing this boulder up the mountain again?”

The answer has been “Because I’ve pushed it up 600 times already.” Clearly, that’s a bit silly.

WestonWeb and I had a trial separation over the summer, and, honestly, it felt right. I went canoeing with my son, travelling with my family, and took that little bit of extra time for myself. It felt good! I won’t say it’s been a revelation or that my life has changed dramatically, but I will say I love spending less time on screens. My job is now almost fully online and my whole body feels pixellated sometimes.

Thank you very much for being part of this. It’s been a joy and a privilege to write for you for all these years.
